This meeting will wrap up the discussion of the design of a new community center in the Grove Hall section of Dorchester. The Innovation and Design Building (IDB) is a 1.4 million square foot mixed-use complex located in the Innovation District in Boston's Seaport neighborhood. The eight-story Innovation and Design Building (IDB) complex was constructed on the Commonwealth Flats by the U.S. Department of Defense in 1918, and it originally served as a waterside storehouse for the South Boston Army Base. In its heyday during World War II, 50,000 people worked around the clock at the South Boston Army Base and neighboring South Boston Naval Annex repairing and overhauling American ships and warehousing and distributing a wide range of military goods and supplies. Before you meet with a designer, have a clear understanding of what your design objectives are.

From hosting biotech incubators to established companies at properties like Innovation Square and 451 D Street, our building provide top-of-the line amenities and resources tailored to tenants’ needs. Housing 70 individually-owned showrooms, the BDC has served design professionals and their clients for more than 25 years, providing unrivaled product selection, customer service, and design expertise. The Boston Design Center is the epicenter of design in New England, featuring more than 350,000 square feet of home and contract showrooms representing the best in both domestic and international product lines.

But it has recently welcomed a bevy of new showrooms, design studios, and architecture firms, too. Many have moved into 500 Harrison Avenue, a building that’s undergone significant renovations since suffering damage from a 2020 water-main break. Now, developer GTI Properties has rebranded the complex as the SoWa Art + Design Center, and—thanks in part to side effects of the biotech boom in the Seaport and Cambridge—this stretch of the South End is starting to feel like the hub of the city’s design community. With over 30 design showrooms and 1,200 brands and product lines, a visit to Boston Design Center is a must for interior design professionals. The Boston Design Center, located in the booming Seaport District, is home to 87 showrooms featuring products for contract and residential interiors. The project included removal of existing EPDM and BUR roofing down to the concrete deck, and installation of a new insulated EPDM membrane system.

And it's clear that Celebration isn't your mother's, or grandmother's, Carnival cruise ship, taking the company into its next half-century with a more modern, updated version of Carnival's "Fun Ship" style.

The 140,600-gross ton ship carries 3,260 guests in double occupancy, and is operating alternating 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Celebrity Ascent is the fourth vessel in the line’s Edge class, and features the popular Magic Carpet, a movable cantilevered deck that functions as a restaurant and bar. I knew there was a reason I was drawn to the Center Stage Bar on Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Cruise Line's newest ship and the third in the Excel Class. The bar — along with several other dining venues and the onboard shops — wasn't open during my two-night sailing prior to the ship's first voyage with paying passengers. TPG was on board Carnival Celebration's second sailing and the first from its Miami home port to the Caribbean. Here, I'll outline what's new, what we loved and what could use some tweaks. Additionally, the group operates three shipyards in Finland and Germany, where the current Excel-class ships were constructed. The more than 2,600-stateroom ship is made up of six zones, with festive touches and nods to its history incorporated throughout. Love it or hate it, there are throwbacks everywhere you look on Carnival Jubilee. A forever fan of Farcus — I even have one of his piano bar tables in my living room, rescued from Carnival's former Tropicale — I think the design elements (the colors, the decor, the mixture of styles) are brilliant. I loved how the atrium area is now more incorporated into the daily flow of the ship, rather than an area you pass by to get somewhere else. The shows are stunning, with the action extending beyond the stage, including into the air. They make full use of the high-tech capabilities of the performance space.
