The 140,600-gross ton ship carries 3,260 guests in double occupancy, and is operating alternating 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Celebrity Ascent is the fourth vessel in the line’s Edge class, and features the popular Magic Carpet, a movable cantilevered deck that functions as a restaurant and bar. I knew there was a reason I was drawn to the Center Stage Bar on Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Cruise Line's newest ship and the third in the Excel Class. The bar — along with several other dining venues and the onboard shops — wasn't open during my two-night sailing prior to the ship's first voyage with paying passengers. But each time I passed by it in Grand Central, one of the ship's six zones, I couldn't help staring. By day, panoramic windows offer port and ocean views to guests enjoying coffee and a snack from the JavaBlue Cafe across from Celebration Central's lower level.

It's also a beautiful place to say “I do,” with an event pavilion for hosting weddings, vow renewals and other special celebrations. We’ve taken the vast world that exists underneath the waves as the inspiration for Currents™… but why limit your imagination to what’s real? Let the fantastical world of sunken cities, mermaids and sea monsters swirl around your mind as you enjoy new bars, dining spots and live music venues that carry this vibe.
NEXT-LEVEL FUN IS MAKING BIG HEADLINES

We know you guys like soft serve too, so we're throwing in a Swirls™ location — one of two! Grand Central is designed to make an impression… and that’s good because it’s going to be your first one! The adults-only area of the portal will feature a swim-up bar with a DJ, food trucks and more lounging options. Calypso Lagoon falls just to the west, home to the sport court and freshwater lagoon and lounging options galore. Plus, it has an adjustable shower head with a removable wand and a shave bar in one corner — thoughtful touches. In line with Carnival’s commitment to sustainability, the new ship will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), significantly reducing its carbon footprint by reducing emissions of sulfur dioxides, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter. This new addition, which will span approximately 344 meters and boast a gross tonnage of around 180,000, is set to enhance the cruising experience for over 6,400 guests. The ship is also Carnival's second vessel powered by cleaner-burning liquefied natural gas. They scrapped many of their older ships in order to save money and focus on newer and more profitable ships after the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown.
New with the Excel class is Shaquille O'Neal's Big Chicken venue serving variations on the fried-chicken-and-biscuit theme from breakfast through the late afternoon. Carnival's pizza is some of the best in the biz, and the customizable tacos and burritos at BlueIguana offer something for everyone. The midship pool brings back Dive-In Movies on a giant LED screen and is surrounded by a two-deck RedFrog Tiki Bar, Street Eats, BlueIguana Cantina, Seafood Shack and, one deck up, Guy's Burger Joint.

In September, Venezia will start sailing between eight and 12-day itineraries to the Bahamas, Eastern Caribbean and Southern Caribbean, with select sailings also including a stop in Miami.
Carnival Jubilee first look: Throwback decor, creative cocktails and an ocean theme
Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there, and they all welcomed each other with smiles. The excitement was palpable, which bodes well for passengers since the crew is prepared and the ship is ready. Conflicting styles that worked surprisingly well together were a theme that kept repeating on board. Carnival Jubilee is, after all, a throwback ship, designed to pay homage to some of the fleet's original vessels.
Meet Carnival Jubilee™
TPG was on board Carnival Celebration's second sailing and the first from its Miami home port to the Caribbean. Here, I'll outline what's new, what we loved and what could use some tweaks. Additionally, the group operates three shipyards in Finland and Germany, where the current Excel-class ships were constructed. The more than 2,600-stateroom ship is made up of six zones, with festive touches and nods to its history incorporated throughout. Guests enter through the atrium in Celebration Central, with a ceiling designed to mimic a confetti cannon, courtesy of roughly 1,400 colorful light fixtures.
To find uncharted flavors, never before seen on land, we had to dive deep. Far below the waves we met a mermaid who swims the depths of the oceans to find the long-lost treasures of ancient civilizations. You’ve gotta trust us… or you can join us at The Golden Mermaid™, where amazing drinks are just the beginning.
Love it or hate it, there are throwbacks everywhere you look on Carnival Jubilee. A forever fan of Farcus — I even have one of his piano bar tables in my living room, rescued from Carnival's former Tropicale — I think the design elements (the colors, the decor, the mixture of styles) are brilliant. I loved how the atrium area is now more incorporated into the daily flow of the ship, rather than an area you pass by to get somewhere else. The shows are stunning, with the action extending beyond the stage, including into the air. They make full use of the high-tech capabilities of the performance space.
This space has good looks, but you can’t miss the innovative tech packed into the zone! Six huge LED “windows” — and the awe-inspiring wavy LED ceiling — will help transport you to mesmerizing digital underwater worlds. These screens are the center of the local entertainment, with interactive audio-visual elements that let kids, adults and everyone enjoy and add to the under-this-world seascapes! Plus there’s Seaquest, a show that virtually transforms the zone into a submarine on an adventure we’ll enjoy together. And with everything to see, don’t forget about the fantastical flavors, with Emeril’s Bistro 717™, Dr.Inks, Ph.D.™ and The Golden Mermaid™. The Carnival Jubilee also brings back the extensive dining options available on its sister ships.
